would be great to learn more about Aperture while in one of the great natural spaces in the world.

Yellowstone and Aperture a beautiful combination.

So disappointed this contest is not open to British Columbians. Thank you though for offering it up for others…jt

NOTE: The U.S. residency and age requirements aren’t because we have something against young people or foreigners – it’s because we are hamstrung by international laws, insurance problems and financial constraints that make this impractical and frankly impossible for us to offer contests beyond our shores.

This is a fantastic opportunity and I would encourage everyone to enter. I was thrilled to be a winner for Yosemite and the prize package is really unbelievable.

11 Chipper Jones 01.31.09 at 12:06 am

That’s right Randy Johnson never wins anything

What type of equipment are you required to have to participate? I have my camera (a Canon Rebel XTi) but really no good lenses for photographing wildlife in Yellowstone. Is it a requirement to have good equipment to participate?

13 admin 02.01.09 at 12:19 pm

@Annie you have all the gear you need. There’s more to Yellowstone than wildlife. Please feel free to enter.

What a super opportunity in this slow winter time! Great motivation to get out there, scratch my head and shoot. Thank you for the contest and “Aperture”. Keep up the great work.

I tried to submit a photo, but it only shows up when I log in to flickr. I set it to public and added it to the group, but when I log out of flickr and do a search on one of my tags, all the photos with the tag shows up but mine.

I don’t know what is wrong.

16 Derek the Unremarkable 02.03.09 at 4:31 am

Yeah poor Randy Johnson needs to get a break in life, let that guy win.

17 Susan 02.03.09 at 11:23 am

Same thing happened to me as it did for Gene. The photo I entered on flickr only shows up when I’m logged in. It’s set to public, added to the ANPW contest group and has several tags, but only appears when I’m logged in. Does not show up in any searches. Very frustrating.

Is there a way to fix it? Please and thank you :)

I have no idea how to help you folks other than to point you to the Help link on every page of Flickr. It’s obviously working for hundreds of folks. If you end up skunked just send the pic to aperturenatureworkshops@gmail.com.

Hope I win ! HOPE I WIN !! HOPE I WIN !!!!!

20 Susan 02.03.09 at 5:18 pm

Flickr says you must have a least 5 photos uploaded (but remember you can only enter 1 into the ANPW contest) in order to be able to view your photo without logging in and to be able to search with the tags. Hope this is helpful.

21 Swede Johnson 02.03.09 at 10:46 pm

I have a nephew who works for Apple in Austin TX. Does this put me out of the running for this opportunity?

22 admin 02.03.09 at 10:54 pm

@Swede you are not disqualified by your nephew’s job.

As with a couple of other people wanting to get the chance of a lifetime, to take some outstanding pictures of Yosemite Natl park one problem, all that I have is a canon Rebel It 35mm with a Quantaray Lenze as well as a 5.1 Megapixel HP R707 with 24 zoom Lenze. Will this be good enough?

sorry- i have a simple question for someone… i would like to submit a photo but it is over 1024 on the longest side… how do I resize so that it fits criteria to enter? Thanks

25 Jason B 02.15.09 at 8:03 pm

This is an awesome chance. Thank you so much for the opportunity!

26 Jeanette 02.19.09 at 11:18 am

This is awesome! What a dream come true this trip would be and what an awesome opportunity to learn more and see beautiful places. I saw this at the very end of the last contest, and there seemed to be online votes next to contest pictures . Is that something that will happen this time in addition to the regular judges? Or was that irrelevant last time? Thanks for the info! Thanks for the chance!

27 Tanu 02.19.09 at 7:37 pm

Does anyone know if we are allowed to photoshop the images?

Also, is the description optional?

28 Josh Coulter 02.21.09 at 2:26 pm

Do you need to have a flicker account in order to participate?
Thanks!
Josh

It looks like the flickr ANPW site is full — it wouldn’t upload my photo.
I got this message:

“…Oops! You’ve reached the limit for this group. Why not head to the Organizr to clear out some room?…”

I uploaded 5 photos, selected the one to submit to the contest (”keeping watch”), and had no success. It must be because of the above message.

There wasn’t a live link for the “alternative submission” option, any other suggestions? I’m sooo excited about this, really want to get a chance to enter.

Here’s to wonderful adventures and clean sensors…
