by admin on March 25, 2009

Imagenomic announced today the commercial release of Portraiture 2 for Aperture.

Portraiture 2 for Aperture is a newly-engineered version that fits seamlessly into Aperture digital image management, editing and output. Special features include:

· Automatic Skin Tones Mask generation and “One-click” skin retouching through a new Preset Manager, which includes image thumbnail previews, bracketing controls, custom preset creation and file sharing, notations, and visual history states;

· Advanced Skin Masking controls for selecting, feathering and refining the retouching area, edges and tonal ranges of the selected mask, including real-time previews;

· Enhancement sliders and settings for sharpness, softness, warmth, tint, brightness and contrast control, with the ability to apply these selectively to the mask area only or to the entire image, e.g. for adjusting lighting effects in software;

· Non-destructive editing and data integrity preservation for image repurposing and superior print quality;

· Extended output options, including dynamic retouching settings optimized for the intended size of the print output;

· New User Interface selection options, multiple image batch processing capabilities, and multi-threaded/multi-processor support for maximum retouching speed and performance.

Portraiture 2 for Aperture can be purchased directly from Apple (www.apple.com) or Imagenomic (www.imagenomic.com) for $199.95 (SRP). Free trial downloads are available for interested parties to “try before they buy.”

I’ll be writing a review of this plug-in sometime next week or so.

Nik Software Announces Complete Collection of Plug-ins for Aperture

by admin on November 7, 2008

I am a Nik Software fanatic. Their plug-ins for Aperture have literally changed the way I approach my photography. While I have consistently found their products to be top performers, I have often thought they’d have broader appeal if the prices weren’t so high.

It looks like someone at Nik was listening to me – (or others who shared my concerns,) because Nik Software recently announced its Complete Collection for Aperture which includes versions of Dfine® 2.0, Viveza™, Color Efex Pro™ 3.0, Silver Efex Pro™, and Sharpener Pro™ 3.0.

This brings all of the company’s award-winning digital imaging software products to Apple’s groundbreaking photo editing and management software. This Aperture specific bundle is available at a new low price of $299.95.

“The Complete Collection puts the most coveted digital photographic filters within reach of anyone who’s passionate about photography,” said Michael J. Slater president and CEO of Nik Software. “Without having to leave Aperture, photographers can access a complete set of photographic workflow tools for selective editing.”

Nik Software’s Complete Collection for Aperture is available for electronic delivery directly from Nik Software http://www.niksoftware.com and through specialty camera retailers in late November 2008.

The suggested retail price of the Complete Collection for Aperture is $299.95 (USD), which represents a savings of $750 (USD) over purchasing each product separately for Photoshop and Aperture. Each of the software products in the bundle installs as a plug-in filter for Apple Aperture 2.1.

For more information about the software, including video tutorials highlighting the software running within Aperture and free 15-day fully functional trial versions, check out http://www.niksoftware.com” or visit any Apple Retail store demonstration computer to try the software.

Apple Updates RAW Support in Aperture

by admin on November 5, 2008

If you’re an Aperture user, you should get the new update from Software Update. If not, visit the Apple website to get the RAW update.

Newly supported cameras include Canon EOS 50D, Nikon D90, Sony’s Alpha DSLR-A900 and Nikon Coolpix P6000.

Sadly, my beloved Panasonic LX3 is not on the list.
